Deborah is a young mother who lost her mother, father and stepmother all before she reached her teenage years. Having just given birth to her second child out of prostitution, she came to Mwana to abandon her malnourished child, seeing no other option for survival for her daughter. But Mwana took them both in and cared for them while they regained their strength, healing physically and emotionally.

While Deborah struggles to provide for herself and her children through dignified means, she yet has hope that she can one day reunify with her daughter, who remains in Mwana’s care. Deborah has researched a local electrician training program which Mwana has agreed to fund. Beginning in October 2017, Deborah will be on track to obtain certification as an electrician and hold a steady income in dignifying work.
